Send Condolences to the Leonard Family

Junior F. Leonard, Jr., 86, of Rt. 2, Bristol, WV, passed away Sunday afternoon, February 11, 2007 in Ruby Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. He was born July 7, 1920 in Ritchie County, WV, a son of the late Flavious Sylvester Leonard, Sr. and the late Elizabeth Jane Starkey Leonard.

Surviving are four sons, Howard Donald Leonard and his wife Barbara of Clarksburg, Roger Leeman Leonard and his wife Pauline of Doddridge County, Terry Wayne Leonard of Salem and Jackie Lewis Leonard and his wife Linda of Jarvisville; one daughter, Zanie Elizabeth Jenkins of Jarvisville; 14 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.

Two sisters, Nancy Viola Bevlin of Lumberport and Gertrude Deliah Hayes of Salem, as wells as several nieces and nephews complete the family.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Clarice Kathleen Law Leonard, on March 18, 2003; one daughter, Linda Frances Hughes; a granddaughter Kathlina May Jenkins; eight siblings including John Leonard, Icy Thelma Haught, William Guy Leonard, Charles Leamon Leonard, Doris Virginia Haught, Wilma Irene Leonard, Todd Alvin Leonard and Wanda Lee Freeland. 

Junior was a hard-working farmer who also enjoyed hunting and mechanical work. He retired in 1976 after 30 years of service with Pittsburgh Plate Glass where he made vehicle windshields. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in World War II.

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Ave., Bridgeport from 1:00 – 4:00 & 6:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday, where a funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday with Reverend Denver L. Burnside  presiding. Interment will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery.
