William Lewis "Lou" Richards

William Lewis “Lou” Richards, 59, of Rt. 7, Clarksburg, Loveberry Addition, passed away Friday evening, December 28, 2007, at his residence.  He was born December 20, 1948, in Good Hope, a son of the late Robert Glen and Virginia Binegar Richards.

He is survived by 2 sons, William “Bill” Richards, Jr., Clarksburg; and David D. Richards and his wife Lynette, Clarksburg; and a daughter, Jennifer Aliff and her husband Les, Youngsville, NC; 9 grandchildren; a sister, Pam Carey, Delaware; and his companion, Charlotte Wilson, Clarksburg.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur D. Richards.

Lou was a mechanic, and had worked at Clarksburg Mack and the Clarksburg Exponent.  An active member of the American Federation of Musicians, he played the bass and fiddle. He played with Jim Bunch,  “Country Just Us”, and  “Chain Reaction”, along with several other bands.  He served with the US Army during the Vietnam War, and was a member of VFW Post 573 and American Legion Post 13, Clarksburg, and the Disabled American Veterans.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Lou’s memory may be made to Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.  

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, from       2-4 & 6-8 pm on Tuesday, January 1, 2008, where services will be held on Wednesday at 11 am  with Jim Bunch presiding. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, West Milford.
