Mary Catherine LaRosa Roda, 87, of Bridgeport, passed away Monday morning January 22, 2007, in Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was born in Clarksburg on January 20, 1920, a daughter of the late James and Emily Cava LaRosa.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Roda, in June 1997.
Mary is survived by three daughters, Charlene Elkins, Helen Davis, and Mary Lou Renzelli and her husband Mike, all of Bridgeport. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Lisa Brickey of Florida, Marla Talkington of Bridgeport, Louie Davis of Bluefield, Dr. Anthony Roda Renzelli of Bridgeport and Emily Renzelli of Bridgeport; five great-grandchildren Kayla and Louie Davis, Alexandra Talkington, and Savanna and Alex Brickey. Mary is also survived by her brother, James D. LaRosa, and her sister-in-law, Joan LaRosa, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by an infant son, Patsy, and her brother Virgil LaRosa.
Mary played an important role with her husband Louis in the establishment of Green Acres Supper Club in Bridgeport, which they operated for over 40 years. Mary was the pillar of her family, being a wonderful mother and grandmother who was dearly loved by her children and family. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and a very giving person to all.
The Roda Family would like to give special thanks to the Bridgeport Paramedics and the doctors, nurses, and staff of Ruby Memorial Hospital.
Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Ave., Bridgeport from 1:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, January 24, 2007. A Vigil Service will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday in the funeral home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Reverend Cesidio Federico as Celebrant. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
