Denzil H. Seese, Jr., commonly known to his family and many friends as “June”, 65, of Rt. 4, Grafton (McGee Community), passed away Friday evening, January 12, 2007 at United Hospital Center, Clarksburg. He was born October 20, 1941 at home in Rosemont, WV, a son of the late Denzil H. Seese, Sr. and the late Elva Etta Jackson Seese.
His wife of eight years, Mary S. Knight Seese, whom he married May 27, 1998, survives him.
Additionally, he is survived by three children Vanessa Ann Goodwin and her husband Kevin of Winchester, VA, Denzil H. “Denny” Seese, III and his wife Lisa of Rosemont, and Charles A. “Charlie” Seese of Bridgeport; one step-son, Roy Lewis and his fiancé Meghann Tenney of Grafton, WV; 10 grandchildren, Heather Fauver and her husband John of Bridgeport, Victoria Goodwin and Whitney Goodwin both of Winchester, VA, Lacie Seese of Rosemont, WV, Denzil H. “DJ” Seese, IV of Rosemont, Brittney Seese and Courtney Maxwell both of Flemington, Trae Kephart of Winchester, VA, Myranda L. Seese of Bridgeport and Corrin Lewis of Grafton; and two great-grandchildren Madison Fauver and Preston Fauver both of Bridgeport.
Completing his family are four brothers, William Lee Seese and his wife Connie of Madison, OH, Daniel Carl Seese of Rosemont, Robert E. Seese and his wife Brenda of Bridgeport and James E. Seese and his wife Debby of Clarksburg; three sisters Mabel Davis and her husband George of Columbus, GA, Audrie Blake and her husband Raymond of Berkeley Springs, WV and Shirley Hayes and her husband Ed of Painesville, OH; a brother-in-law Weldon McCaulley of Perry, OH and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Bertha “Toots” Seese, Baby Seese, Agnes Seese and Thelma “Sis” McCaulley.
June was a very skilled mechanic whose specialty was in dealing with transmissions. He retired from Chenoweth Ford after 27 years of service in 1991 and following his retirement opened Seese’s Garage in Rosemont. A Methodist by faith, he was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his family in Franklin, WV. He also worked on his family farm for many years.
He will be remembered by all who knew him as a very hardworking man who would help anyone in their time of need, and for his great sense of humor.
Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home 607 S. Virginia Ave., Bridgeport, WV from 3:00 – 8:00 PM Sunday, January 14, 2007 and from 2:00 – 8:00 PM on Monday, January 15, 2007. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday in the funeral home with Pastor James F. Thompson presiding. Following the funeral service, June’s request for cremation will be honored, and the interment will follow at a later date for the convenience of the family.
Floral offerings will be accepted, however contributions in June’s memory may be made to his family in care of Burnside Funeral Home for a memorial to be established at a later time.
