William H. Bailey, 64, of Sun Valley, passed away unexpectedly Sunday morning, December 31, 2006 at United Hospital Center in Clarksburg. He was born August 7, 1942 in McDowell County, WV, a son of the late Ted and Ethel Watts Bailey.

 

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Virginia Edith Poole Bailey whom he married July 3, 1965.

 

Additionally, he is survived by three children, Robert W. Tipton of Wallace, Michael W. Bailey and his wife Cathy of Bridgeport and Carol L. Bailey and her fiancé Michael Baldwin of Clarksburg; seven grandchildren including Mark David Tipton, Andrea Nicole Tipton, Jessica Ann Tipton, Justin Michael Bailey, Katie Elizabeth Bailey, Sarah Alexandra Bailey and Kevin Wayne Tipton; and one great-granddaughter, Alexis Nicole Tipton.

 

Six siblings, Jerri Smart of Panther, WV, Glenna Taylor of Joppatown, MD, Kenny Bailey of Aberdeen, MD, Teddy Bailey and his wife Debbie of Hainsville, FL, Rodney Bailey and his wife Nadine of Conowingo, MD and Randy Bailey and his wife Gilda of Rutledge, TN; and his daughter-in-law Lola M. Tipton of Baltimore, MD as well as several nieces and nephews, complete the family.

 

In addition to his parents, one son, Mark Tipton and one sister, Brenda Asal, preceded him in death.

 

Bill graduated high school and then obtained his Associate’s Degree in Accounting from the Baltimore College of Commerce.

 

Bill and his wife moved to this area in 1968. He was responsible for opening several H&R Block Tax Offices in this area and around the state. In 1978, he decided to venture on his own into business and opened Bailey Business Service, a business he still owned at the time of his passing.  

 

He was a member of the National Rifle Association and enjoyed hunting and fishing. His hobbies included gun and coin collecting and woodworking.

 

Bill was a very well liked man who had the heart and soul of ten men. He was an honest, hard-working man who was admired by his clients and his family. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and brother who loved spending time with his family.

 

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Ave., Bridgeport, from 3:00 – 8:00 PM on Tuesday, January 2, 2007 and again from 3:00 – 8:00 PM on Wednesday, January 3, 2006. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday in the funeral home with Reverend Paul Helmick presiding.Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Quite Dell.
