Merle Geraldine Loudin, 83, of Rt. 3, Bridgeport, Tolley Road, passed away early Friday morning, September 1, 2006 at United Hospital Center following an extended illness. She was born November 27, 1922, in Taylor County, WV, a daughter of the late Scott and Tabitha (Weaver) Goodwin.

 Her husband of 61 years, Ira E. Loudin, survives her.

 Additionally, she was the mother of five children including Nancy Loudin; Shirley Mauller and her husband Richard; Carol Grogg and her husband Danny; James Loudin; and Debbie Farris and her husband Clifford “Willie” Farris; all of Tolley Rd. in Bridgeport. Six grandchildren, Scott Mauller and his wife Courtney; Benjamin Grogg; Adam Grogg; Tabitha Grogg; Holly Farris; and Jessica Farris; one sister Madge Ridenour of Fairmont, and several nieces and nephews complete her family.

 In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Timothy Grogg; four brothers, Murray Goodwin, Maynard “Pete” Goodwin, Burlan Goodwin and Wayman Goodwin; and two sisters, Forest Goodwin and Jessie Anderson.

 Merle was an active member of the Hepzibah Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, reading and gardening flowers. She was a devoted homemaker who loved spending time with her family and friends, and was always there for anyone who ever needed her.

 Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Ave., Bridgeport, on Tuesday, September 5, 2006, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. On Wednesday, September 6, 2006, Mrs. Loudin will be moved to the Hepzibah Baptist Church in Taylor County, where she will lie in state from 12:00 Noon until 1:00 PM. The funeral service will be conducted in the church at 1:00 PM with Pastor Alan Rosenberger, her church pastor, presiding. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
