Loudie A. Short, 62, of Wolf Summit, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday morning, November 1, 2006 at his residence. He was born in Clarksburg on August 1, 1944, a son of the late Charles E. and Inez M. (Lyons) Short.
He is survived by his wife, Mary (Lynch) Short, whom he married September 28, 1964.
Also surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Curtis M. and Debbie Short, Fairmont; his daughter, Cindy M. Short, Stonewood; two grandsons, Russell C. Short and Andrew “Drew” C. Short; two brothers, Leland H. Short and his wife Annamarie, Morrow, OH; and Warner C. Short and his wife Carole, Wolf Summit; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Paul R. and Nancy Lynch, Clarksburg, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Yvonne Kerns.
Loudie was a graduate of Bristol High School, Class of 1962, and served in the Army Reserves. He was currently employed as a purchasing agent for Wholesale Tire with over 20 years of service. He also owned and operated the former Short’s Service Center and Short’s Feed & Farm in Wolf Summit from 1976 – 1986.
He spent most of his spare time in his woodshop doing various projects, from restoring antiques to building new furniture, and he spent a great deal of time doting over his grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling and visiting historic places, most recently a trip to Thomas, WV, to a Victorian bed and breakfast to celebrate 42 years of marriage.
Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Ave., Bridgeport (www.burnsidefuneralhome.com) from 2-8 p.m. on Friday, where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2 pm with Reverend Etheldean Yanero presiding. Interment will follow in the Marshville Cemetery.
