Leona V. Elder

Leona V. Elder, age 89 of Rt. 5, Bridgeport (Lakeland Terrace), passed away Friday afternoon, December 15, 2006 at United Hospital Center in Clarksburg. She was born September 28, 1917 near Whitesville, WV.
She was preceded in death by her husband Von Paul Elder on February 20, 1992.
Survivors include one son, Charles R. Elder of Bridgeport; one daughter and son-in-law Sandra K. Grimes and her husband Uri of Bridgeport; six grandchildren, Jeffrey Alan Grimes and his wife Maribel, Michael Paul Grimes and his wife Misty and Timmy Wayne Phillips and his wife Stacy all of Bridgeport, John Alan Elder and his spouse of North Carolina, Kevin Lee Elder and Pam Elder both of Parkersburg; several great-grandchildren and her daughter-in-law Maxine Elder of Parkersburg.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son Paul Allen Elder and two brothers Robert Lee Huff and Lyle Dilley.
Leona was a devoted homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Bridgeport Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking and loved dogs.
Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home 607 S. Virginia Ave., Bridgeport (www.burnsidefuneralhome.com) from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Monday, December 18, 2006. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday in the funeral home with Reverend Thomas P. Horne presiding. Interment will follow in the Hepzibah Cemetery, Taylor County.
