Lela Luella McDonald, 92, of Rt. 3, Bridgeport, Hepzibah Community, died Tuesday evening, March 7, 2006, in The Heritage, Bridgeport. She was born in Taylor County on May 26, 1913, a daughter of the late Mary (Nuzum) and Ila L. Williamson.
On November 4, 1933, she married Harry F. McDonald, who preceded her in death in 1976.
She is survived by 3 daughters, Mary Shahan and her husband Donald, Rt. 3, Bridgeport; Margaret Wall and her husband Larry, Ann Arbor, MI; and Catherine McGill and her husband Robert, Rt. 3, Bridgeport; a son, Charles D. McDonald, Rt. 3, Bridgeport; a sister, Beulah Fancher, Horners Run; eleven grandchildren; Christine Murdock, Barbara Rowe, Harry Green; Beth Snay; Rebecca Wheeler, all of Michigan; Mary Warner, Bridgeport; Bobbie Sothen, Clarksburg; Robert L. McGill, Jr., Philippi; Connie McGill, Bridgeport; Jimmy Norman, Bridgeport; Betty Moore, Bridgeport; 19 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Ray McDonald; a daughter, Deloris Norman; 2 grandsons, Lee Shahan & Stephen McGill; a sister, Dessie Shackelford; and three brothers, Odbert, Herbert, and Edward Williamson.
Lela was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, farmer and Girl Scout Camp Caretaker’s wife. She loved to quilt and make crafts.
Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home 607 S. Virginia Ave., Bridgeport from 2:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday March 8, 2006. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday in the funeral home with Reverend Bruce Hoffman presiding. Interment will follow in the Hepzibah Cemetery, Hepzibah, Taylor County.
