Kathryn “Katie” Second, 88, Rt. 3, Clarksburg, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday evening, December 27, 2006 at Patton’s Personal Care Home in North View. She was born September 29, 1918, in Mt. Clare, a daughter of the late Steve and Dora Gruich Popovich.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Joseph Second, on April 16, 2003.
Katie is survived by her two daughters, Rosalie D. Williams of Clarksburg and JoAnn Hammond and her husband John of Morgantown; a sister, Mary Binneger of Bedford, VA; two grandchildren Steve Williams and Jessica Hammond; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, George, Steve, and Nick Popovich; a sister, Diane Tonkovich, and an infant sister.
Mrs. Second was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Mt. Clare satellite of the Harrison County Senior Citizens. At one time, she was also active in the Gore Women’s Club. She enjoyed sewing, ceramic work, and other crafting projects. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and mother-in-law. She will be remembered as a kind, generous woman who always put other people’s needs before her own.
Following a private family viewing, a Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 30, 2006 at Holy Cross Cemetery with Reverend Charles E. McGinnis presiding.
Mrs. Second’s family will be inviting guests to join them for a luncheon reception at Minard’s Spaghetti Inn immediately following the service.
