Gertie Kiser, 89, of Clarksburg, passed away Tuesday
morning, May 23, 2006 at Crestview Manor Nursing Home, Jane Lew.
She was born August 10, 1916, in Gilmon, Randolph County, a daughter
of the late Ernest and Martha (Canfield) Smith.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Fred Kuffner and Walter L. Kiser.
Surviving are her daughter, Martha Ann Jones, Bridgeport; two grandchildren, Marc A. Jones and his wife Roseanna, Morgantown; and Rebecca Sutherland and her husband Peter, Pittsburgh; her great-grandchildren, William J. and Laura Jane Sutherland; a sister, Geraldine Roy, Fayetteville, NC; and a brother, Raymond Smith, Clarksburg; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Freddy H. Jones; four sisters, Geneva Gilbert; Bertha Phipps; her twin sister Myrtie Jones; and Pauline Wolfe; and four brothers, Keith, Gerald, Junior and Bradford Smith.
Gertie was a 50-year member of the United Methodist Temple, Clarksburg, and had retired from Julio’s Restaurant.
Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Thursday May 25, 2006 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM, where services will be held on Friday morning at 11:00 AM with Reverend Paul Helmick presiding. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Quiet Dell.
