George Clinton Henderson, Sr. age 65 of Brushy Fork Road in Barbour County passed away Saturday April 15, 2006 at his home with his family due to a short illness. He was born in Bridgeport, WV on October 18, 1940, the son of the late Burton C. and Bessie L. Morris Henderson.
George will be lovingly remembered by his wife Grace Mae Root Henderson whom he married September 28, 1962; three children, Doretta Smith and her fiancé Shawne Copeland of Gibsonville, NC, George Clinton, Jr. and his wife Robin of Severn, MD and Jennifer Frantz and her husband Brian of Rocky Mount, NC; and three granddaughters, Angela and Stacy Smith and Rebecca Henderson. He is also survived by four sisters and two brothers.
George was preceded in death by his grandson, Alec Benavides, one sister and one brother.
George was a heavy equipment operator for 38 years in Severn, MD. In May 2002 he retired to Brushy Fork, WV to fulfill his dreams on a small farm. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, farming and spending time with his family.
Friends and family will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Ave., Bridgeport from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday April 16, 2006 and from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor Jim Davis presiding. Interment will follow in the Crislip Cemetery on Brushy Fork Road.
