Send Condolences to the Watkins Family

Earl E. Watkins, age 88, formerly of the Boothsville area, passed away early Sunday morning, February 26, 2006 at Meadowview Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bridgeport following an extended illness. He was born January 4, 1918 in Shinnston, WV, a son of the late Melville Watkins and the late Ida Humphreys Watkins.

Earl is survived by his son and daughter-in-law David Watkins and his wife Beverly of Philippi; two granddaughters Sarah and Emily Watkins; one brother George Watkins and his wife Pat of Fort Branch, IN and one sister, Virginia Tucker of Pruntytown.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife Marie Antoinette Watkins on May 19, 2003 and one brother, Robert Watkins.

Earl retired as a field accountant Roberts and Shaffer and was a member of the Boothsville United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of World War II, having served the with United States Army Air Force having from 1946-1948. He enjoyed visiting with his family and friends, gardening and working with his hands on many projects and improvements around his home. He was also an avid sports fan.

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home 607 S. Virginia Ave., Bridgeport from 4:00 – 8:00 PM Monday evening, February 27, 2006 and from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 AM on Tuesday with Pastor Johnna Wheaton presiding. Interment will follow in the Bridgeport Cemetery.

The casket will remain closed at Mr. Watkins’s request for the visitations.

Although flowers are welcome at the funeral home, the family has suggested because of Earl’s long struggle with Parkinson’s Disease that contributions in his name should be made to the National Parkinson Foundation, 1501 NW 9th Ave., Bob Hope Rd., Miami, FL 33136-1494
