Charles Q. Fiora, 93, of Grand Avenue, Bridgeport, died Monday morning, January 16, 2006, in the United Hospital Center.  He was born on January 3, 1913, in Clarksburg, the eldest child of the late Anthony J. and Angioletta (Olmo) Fiora.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Solina “Sally” (Molina) Fiora, in 1988. 

He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Dorothea “Dottie” (Wyatt) Terneus Fiora; his daughter, Solina Fiora, Myrtle Beach, SC; and his son, Daniel Fiora, Charleston, WV; grandson James C. Fiorito, Pompano Beach, FL; granddaughter Amie M. (Fiorito) Darway and her husband Mike, Shinnston; three great-grandchildren, Darian, Drew, and Dalton Darway; four step-children and 12 step-grandchildren.  A brother, Quinton Fiora, Lusby, MD; seven sisters, Jenny Pios, Seattle, WA; Yolanda Miarra, District Heights, MD; Malfalda Rhule, Odenton, MD; Angeline Fiora, San Bruno, CA; Catherine Fiora, Bethesda, MD; Lillian Traver, Herndon, MD; V. Ester Massey, Alexandria, VA; and dozens of nieces and nephews around the country complete the family.

In addition to his first wife and parents, he was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Bernard, Albert, James and Vincent; and 2 sisters, Angioletta and Martha.

Charlie was born and raised in Clarksburg, and served as a Sergeant in the 341st Air Service Squadron in the US Army Air Corp from 1942 – 1945.  He was a self-employed contractor, working with his brothers in their father’s company for many years, and he retired from the US Postal Service in 1980 with 20 years of service.  He was a Past Grand Knight of Clarksburg Council 872, Knights of Columbus, and was a Fourth Degree member of Our Lady of Peace Assembly 1184.  He attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help and All Saints Catholic Churches.

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home 607 S. Virginia Ave., Bridgeport from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Wednesday evening, January 18, 2006 and from 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM Thursday, January 19, 2006. A Vigil Service will be held at 5:00 PM Thursday afternoon in the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10:30 AM Friday in All Saints Catholic Church, 317 E. Main St., Bridgeport with Reverend Harry N. Cramer as celebrant. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
