Carmela Beasi Fernandez

Carmela Beasi Fernandez, affectionately known as Carmy, 89, of North View, Clarksburg, passed away Saturday afternoon, January 28, 2006, in United Hospital Center. She was born January 8, 1917, in Dawson Mines, a daughter of the late Giovanni “John” Beasi and the late Settimia Laghezza Beasi.
On June 29, 1935, she married Jack Fernandez, who preceded her in death in 1949.
Carmela is survived two sons, Jack Russell Fernandez of Paris, KY, and Charles Larry Fernandez of Mechanicsville, VA; two daughters, Marie Ann Cameron of Paris, KY and Mrs. Felix (Elaine) Huertas of Reynoldsburg, OH; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, including Flora Rebrook and Jeanette Beasi who have cared for her during the past nine years, and two sisters-in-law, Rose Beasi and Nora Marra, both of North View.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been predeceased by two brothers, John and Mario Beasi, and one sister Virginia Beasi. Carmela was also preceded in death by one granddaughter, Katherine Fernandez and one son, William F. Fernandez.
Carmy was a homemaker who was formerly employed at the Manhattan Restaurant and in private residences. She was a longstanding and devoted member for 82 years of St. James Catholic Church and attended daily Mass when she was able. She was hard-working all of her life and enjoyed being visited by and talking to her friends.

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Ave., Bridgeport from 3:00 – 8:00 PM on Wednesday, February 1, 2006. A Vigil Service will be held at 5:00 PM Wednesday afternoon in the funeral home. Catholic Burial Rites will be accorded at 12:00 Noon Thursday in the funeral home with Reverend Fr. Benedict Kapa presiding. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Clarksburg.
