Alex "Bud" Davis

Alex “Bud” Davis, age 86 of the Summit Park Community, Clarksburg, passed away Saturday morning, December 16, 2006 at the Arbors of Fairmont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born September 24, 1920 in Logan County, WV, a son of the late Jesse Lee Davis and the late Avie Johnson Davis.
His wife of 59 years, Mary Elizabeth Rollins whom he married October 6, 1947, survives him at home.
Additionally, he is survived by three sons Jesse Lee Davis and his wife Eileen of Clarksburg, Dennis Davis and his wife Carole of Ellenboro, WV and Bruce Costen Davis of Boston, Mass.; two daughters Joyce Davis Queen of Clarksburg and Tammy Davis Keough and her husband J. Douglas Keough of Clarksburg; five grandchildren Jesse Lee Davis, Shawn Alex Davis, Daniel Clark Keough, Alexis Marie Keough and Julie Davis; and one brother Jesse Lee Davis, his wife Rita and one sister Bernice Johnson, all of Salt Rock, WV.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers Emmett Davis, Paul Davis, Eugene “Buck” Davis and Clark Davis; one sister Geraldine Joyce and a granddaughter Lisa Marie Davis.
Bud retired from Customer Service with Hope Gas in 1976 after 25 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the United States Army. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Herman Lodge #6 of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Clarksburg and the Nemisis Temple of the Shrine in Parkersburg. He was proud to have received his 50-year membership pin in 2005.
He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and traveling, but his greatest love was his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.
Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home 607 S. Virginia Ave., Bridgeport (www.burnsidefuneralhome.com) from 2:00 – 8:00 PM Monday, December 18, 2006. A funeral service will be conducted at 12:30 PM Tuesday in the funeral home with Reverend Etheldean Yanero presiding. Interment will follow in the West Virginia National Cemetery, Pruntytown, where Full Military Honors will be accorded at the graveside.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Davis’s memory may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children 1900 Richmond Rd., Lexington, KY 40502.
